WP1 Management

Project Management : Administration and Coordination of the activites

Project management will be in charge of coordinating the work, reporting to the European Commission and managing possible deviations. The management structure has a technical manager, Marie Lhoutellier, and an administrative manager, Voni Andriananja, responsible for ensuring the daily management operation applying proven methods and procedures. Management has a hierarchy which consists of the project coordinator, Marie Lhoutellier, and a management team with the main representatives of each organisation, a core working group and the work package leaders. The management is supported by communications tools, quality procedures and risk & contingency measures.

WP2 Inventory

The objectiv

e of this workpackage is to identify, through existing networks, the life science facilities which are interested in hosting SMEs for technology transfer or product testing.

Biophotonics Facilities Inventory

  • Inventory of former initiatives in the field of facilities sharing and return on experience
  • Inventory of facilities in each cluster/country, by technologies, pathologies and services offered
  • Mapping of existing networks in Biophotonics.

WP3 Needs

This workpackage aims to collect the needs of SMEs working in Biophotonics, in the Medical Technology and Agrifood fields.

SMEs and Clinical demand analysis

The ma

in objective of WP3 is to collect the needs of SMEs working in the biophotonics, in the medical technology fields, and in the agrifood fields in order to improve their international competitiveness thanks to photonics - based technologies and solutions. Another objective is to investigate the unmet needs from hospitals and from Agrifood market actors, that can be solved by photonics- based technologies and solutions.

These objectives will be reached by collecting data from the SMEs located in each participant partner’s regions, and from the research centres and the hospitals. The existing facilities and services offered to SMEs in each cluster will be exploited. The success stories of collaborations between SMEs and academia which have resulted in photonics solutions will be shared among the partners and will be used in the activities of WP4, WP5 and WP6. The problems encountered during the development of new solutions and products will also be inventoried, shared between the partners and analysed for the development of innovative solutions.

  • To inventory the SMEs with relevant profile and their unmet need in each partner’s region.
  • To inventory the unmet medical and agrifood related needs.
  • To analyse the problems encountered by SMEs in the use of existing facilities.
  • To gather success stories of Biophotonics- based innovation transfer.
  • To design a roadmap for fruitful collaborations between SMEs, facilities and clinical environments, for a larger development and use of new photonics- based solutions in life science including health and agrifood.

Understand the needs and barriers of the photonics companies and help them reaching medical and agrifood markets.

WP4 Services

This workpackage aims to define a set of services to facilitate the development of biophotonics products for the medical and agrifood sector.

Clusters Services Design

The main objective of this workpackage is to propose several services to facilitate the access of SMEs to bio/agri-research infrastructures (assisted by experts and with funding) in Europe. The proposition of services for the SMEs will be tested through workshops. The SMEs attending the workshops will be able to exchange their strategies and experiences and to react to the new propositions. The model developed should be adjustable to each cluster to fit in the ecosystem and the financing structures and supports already provided to SMEs in the region/country.

Objectives of WP4:

  • Design a model of services for SMEs that can be offered by a photonic cluster.
  • Develop a business model for the self-sustainability of the tools developed in the project.
  • Design services enabling the development of SMEs in the field of bio/agro photonics for owners of life science infrastructure.

Design a sustainable model of services that can be used by each cluster to support the development of SMEs active in the field of biophotonics.

WP5 Workshops

The main objective of this workpackage is to test on a small scale the services designed by the project.

Seeding Growth

The main activity in WP5 is the organization of 8 workshops, related to one of the applications targeted in the project, and of 2 webinars. The services proposed in the WP4 will directly be tested during these meetings.

Objectives of WP5: 

  • To validate the services designed in WP4 with photonics SMEs
  • To facilitate the generation of intellectual property and the economic growth of participating SMEs by bringing together and sharing facilities and know-how and industry.
  • To identify new opportunities after each seed-growth meeting for the companies and the life-science facilities.

The workshops will be held in each partner's area. During these workshops, visits of life science facilities and B2B meetings with SMEs will be organized. All partners will have an overview of public-private cooperation in each location. The previous workpackages will have offered a broad range of information for the preparation of the workshops. With these meetings, the benchmark will be completed with a vision of the possible European cooperation through a sustainable OASIS platform serving biophotonics and at the center of regional strategies, structural funds, H2020 and capital ventures.

WP6 Dissemination

The main objectives of this workpackage are to promote the project activities in various media & events and prepare an exploitation plan of the project results.

Objectives of WP6:

  • To establish and continuously update the project’s website as well as to develop the required website-based tools for the gathering of information.
  • To participate in at least 6 international exhibitions during the project’s duration.
  • To facilitate and organise a targeted dissemination of the project objectives and results to SMEs, facilities and other relevant players.
  • To prepare an exploitation plan and an analysis of how the project results can be sustained after the project duration.

To ensure recognition of this project through clusters, industrials and academics.
